PFEIFFER BEACH, BIG SUR

Here are some photos from Pfeiffer Beach in Big Sur!  It's one of the few dog (on leash) friendly beaches in the area.  You have to really know what you're looking for to find the turn-off from Hwy 1 and then be patient enough to drive the 10 miles down the tiny, winding road down to the beach. Despite our Pfeiffer Beach newb status, we were super lucky that it was late enough in the day and early enough in the year to get parking.  Apparently this place fills up quick and turns into a "one-car-in, one-car-out" situation during peak season.  I get it:::

GARRAPATA STATE PARK, CARMEL

This past Sunday, we grabbed the dogs and some blankets and started down Highway 1, headed to Big Sur. As one can imagine, we took over 400 photos, most of which are too good not to post.  SO, I'll split them up and share by location.  This first group are from Garrapata State Beach, right outside of Carmel.  I'll give you a break from my jibber-jabber and let the photos speak for themselves:::

<there's a little stream down there that runs between the 2 two bluffs and 2 staircases on either side leading down to the beach >

<and growing up through and on either side of the stream are giant calla lilies >

 <and of course, because why wouldn't it, the stream feeds directly into the ocean>
